Top 10 Favorite Books as of Today
(I'm experimenting with canva lol) |
Although I've been busier this year and haven't made much time for reading, the past few years I have been reading a TON and I want to share some of my favorites. Making a list was super hard, and finding the books I'd read a while back that I rated highly was hard, as I'm usually generous with my reviews, almost never going bellow 3 stars and usually going for four.
For example, I rated all the Warrier Cat books five stars (I read them a looooong time ago), and I also rated The Wicked King five stars. Of course, it's a matter of perspective, since I read the cat books so long ago, at the time they seemed amazing.
My favorite genre is sci-fi-fantasy, but I also enjoy mystery, dystopia, or just scifi.
I have different favorites for different genres but here they are all genres. from 1 (my favorite)
to 10 (9 away from my favorite):
10 - The Plastic Magician
9 - Magic for Liars
8 - The Scourge of Muirwood (and the rest of the trilogy)
7 - Born a Crime I listened to this one on audible as well and it's absolutely hilarious and fascinating.
Trevor Noah is amazing and he narrates it. I got to hear a lot of African languages pronounced properly and listening about all the crazy things he did as a kid was absolutely amazing
6 - The Queen's Poisoner this series was awesome... the second book in the Kingfountan series was soooo hecking depressing, the main character was sad the whole time and it was kinda awkward and hard to read, but the first one was AMAZING. I absolutely love the characters and their development and their little adventures.
5 - Kingdom of Ash OMG 900 something pages, and I loved EVERY SINGLE ONE
4 - Days of Blood and Starlight another Laini Taylor book but I can't help it, I freaking love her work
3 - The Wicked King (and the whole series) I feel like these books are a favorite cliche but I don't care,
this book was awesome and dang it made me cry
2 - Crooked Kingdom (and the first book too) I freaking loved this book. Like mega love amazing beautiful I cried multiple time and laughed too I love them
1 - I'm pretty sure this one will always be Strange the Dreamer (I highly recommend this one on audible too, it's just *tears up*-so beautiful) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Books that made me laugh a ton but were not *I can't put this down*:
A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Frikin loved it. Everything about this book just made me smile and laugh at the randomness and characters. I don't know why more people don't read this, it's absolutely hilarious.
The Dispatcher - This one is hilarious and I do highly recommend it. It's written in modern-day with a twist: when you are killed, you come back. If you jump off a cliff, you die. But if someone pushes you off a cliff, most of the time, you return safe and sound in your bed. This story follows a dispatcher, someone meant to cleanly kill patients who are about to die say, on the operating table, so they return safe and sound to their pre-operation state.
Dragon's Chosen - This is a really funny medieval fantasy book about a princess who is on the long trek up a mountain so she can be sacrificed to dragons! I'd recommend this for someone looking for a funny medieval story to pass time and get some laughs. The end was a biiiit cheesy though if I'm honest.
More books that I really liked and would so recommend but were not top ten:
A Taste for Monsters
Night of the Purple moon
Ready Player One
The Night Circus
The Mortal Instruments
DISCLAIMER: I WROTE THIS 7/13/20 AND THAT WAS BEFORE READING A FEW BOOKS (Ninth House would definitely be on the list)
Which ones have you guys read? Do you disagree with the placement on my list?
Let me know!!
