PROCRASTINATION HOW-TO

Hi! Yes, I'm posting again today!
I'm procrastinating editing my book and reading other books and writing short stories and doing my homework for an online class I'm taking, by beginning a post about how to fight procrastination!

First Rule of Procrastination: If you're going to procrastinate, do it well.
What do I mean "Do it well?"? I mean, do it well. If you're going to procrastinate, don't use your procrastination borrowed time to just sit around and stare at a wall, do something productive. This is a really easy step to procrastinate without hating yourself afterward!
Oh, you didn't make any time to edit the book you've been working on for three months going on to four? Well, at least you did this! At least you made a journal entry, at least you did your math homework, at least you cleaned your room, at least you played with your sibling!
If you do not follow this rule, you could fall into a hole of self-loathing if you're anything like me. This is completely wrong, but my mindset is: Productivity defines my worth. (DO NOT USE THIS MINDSET IT SUCKS AND IS HARD TO GET OUT OF) so this rule of procrastination is really helpful to keep me alright!

And now, how not to procrastinate.

How to Sit Yourself Down and Do what Needs to be Done.
Or stand, or do that jog, I don't know what your goals are.

Set a timer. For writing, just sit down, get your materials ready (another example of procrastinating well is getting your workspace to a pristine condition), and set a timer. 30 minutes. 20. 15. Just a small snippet of time. Don't be afraid to check the timer, or reward yourself with chocolates sometimes.

For example: You want to sit and write for 30 minutes. Have 6 chocolates by your computer or journal or whatever and take one every five minutes. In the end, you can shamelessly eat the rest in the box after knowing you did some good work!

If you don't have any chocolate: give yourself a high five every five minutes instead, and try your best to keep your tears from blurring your work!

Make Yourself a List (Bonus if you do this as procrastination)
It's hard to sit down and do all the stuff that needs to get done. I've found throughout my 14 years of existing and procrastinating that when things are all in your head, they repeat themselves. like instead of just being:

Edit your book
Write a short story
harvest the Garden
do a journal entry
read two chapters of this book
Do the dishes

it becomes:

Edit Your bOoK
the dIsHes!
Write a short story
harvest the Garden
Edit your book
the GaRdEn
journal entry
do a journal entry
read two chapters of this book
Do the dishes
journal entry
write
wRitE

Writing it down brings them out of your head and onto paper, where they hopefully won't be repeating and running around. (IF they are still doing so except literally on the paper, I would consult a doctor or get more sleep)

Chances are, the thing isn't as hard as you make it out to be.
It also helps to list the exact steps of the thing!

For example, I need to summon a demon:

no lol jk, I'm not about to tell you guys how to do that
BUT YOU GET MY POINT, right??

This has been how to procrastinate, with Victoria Red
Take it from me! Someone who's been procrastinating this whole time!
Mwahahahahaha!
hahaha-hah-ha *sobbing*

Don't procrastinate, everyone. I finished writing my draft at the end of May and I haven't finished editing yet.

Good luck!
-Victoria

P.S. Now that I have finished procrastinating by writing this post, I will go on to procrastinate further by eating some food, by then it will be too late in the night to write anymore and that'll be another day gone to well-done procrastination :D
